LSIS Awards 2012

Josh collecting his award along with others at the ceremony in London

On the 21st of June members of the students union attended the L.S.I.S (learning skills improvement service) networking day and awards ceremony, where Josh Rowlands (Vice President Further Education) received the highly commended award in the Leading Learner Of The Year category.

The L.S.I.S awards set out to award the hard work of students and staff in Further Education every year. It’s a fantastic achievement for a student of our College to be up for these awards.

On receiving the award Josh said “I can’t believe it. I never expected this in a million years, to be runner-up in a category with so many amazing other nominees is unimaginable. I have enjoyed this year and I’m proud of the work that both the Union and myself have done”. He went on to say “This has really spurred me on. Now I’m looking forward to my year as President and continuing the work started this year with a new team!” He finished by saying “Hopefully now the Union can get the recognition it deserves at the NUS awards to top the year off.”

Josh takes over from Harry Fox as President on the 1st of August, along with a new team of Officers who are looking to build on the successful year that we have had.
